After Patsy graduated from South Hall High School in 1964, she went on to study Education at Brenau University.  She started teaching 5th grade at Chicopee Elementary and went on to teach Physical and Health Education at South Hall and West Hall Middle schools.  After 30 years of loving on children, she retired from the Hall County School System.

On June 5, 1966, Patsy married the love of her life, Phillip “Phil” Carpenter at Grace Baptist Church. Patsy and Phil went on to have two children, Brian “Lance” and Tiffany Vaughan Carpenter. Patsy and Phil were married 56 years.

Patsy devoted her life to serving Jesus and others!  As a teacher, she was passionate about educating her students as well as loving them with the love of Jesus. She started a Hunter’s Safety course in Hall County.  She also founded Courage and Strength, which was a program to encourage students to abstain from drugs and alcohol.  Patsy served as a Board Member for the Board of Health for Hall County.  She and Phil worked with the youth group at Grace Baptist Church.  Patsy taught an Adult Sunday School class at Chicopee Baptist Church for seven years and taught the youth girls at Sugar Hill Baptist Church for 4 years.  She was a Godly help-mate to Phil while he was an Educator and Pastor.  Patsy was a loving mother, and she adored her grandchildren.  She treasured time spent with her family.

She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers, Bill and Bobby Vaughan.  She is survived by her husband, Phil, children, Lance (Keri) and Tiffany, sisters, Gaye Hicks and Kathye Herring, and grandchildren, Tatum, Rylan, Kinzey, Hadli and Nissi.
