Raymond Paul Bitzel, Sr., 78, of Winder, GA passed away February 2, 2023. He was preceded in death by his wife of fifty-five years, Sharon Thorn Bitzel; parents, William and Margaret Ball Bitzel; and sister, Evelyn C. Good. Ray is survived by his son, Raymond Paul Bitzel, Jr. (Yolanda); grandchildren, Haydyn Bitzel and Natalie Bitzel; sister, Joan Easterday; and brother, Clarence Bitzel, Jr. Ray was born June 8, 1944 in Huntington, IN and graduated from Huntington High School. He loved anything history and was an avid history buff. He always wanted to become a history teacher. Ray was always known as a hard worker, working in an automotive foundry, Hayes Wheels, for several years. His second passion was motorcycles, even testing his young marriage by taking his motorcycle apart every winter and placing it in the closet. Yes, he was that passionate. The family will always remember the annual summer trips to Cedar Point.
