Mrs. Flora A. Cleveland Anderson was born in Gainesville Georgia on November 25, 1927, to the late Mrs. Bertha Cantrell and Mr. Nathaniel Cleveland. Flora entered the Kingdom of Heaven on Friday, January 27, 2023, when our Lord and savior Jesus Christ opened the glory gates of Heaven and showed her to her room in His Father’s mansion.
Celebrating of Life
Flora was the youngest of six children. She accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as her personal savior. She received her early childhood education from Summerhill School. She graduated from Fair Street School. Afterwards she attended Morris Brown College (now Morris Brown University) in Atlanta, Georgia.
Mrs. Anderson Worked diligently with the Voters Right project recruiting people to register and signing them up to vote.
Mrs. Anderson, a lifelong member of Saint Paul United Methodist Church. She worked in several positions within the church. Her passion for children led her to teach Sunday School and Vacation Bible School. She joined Tabernacle of Christ International under the leadership of her son Bishop Harold Anderson, Jr.
Mrs. Anderson worked in Childhood Development in the Gainesville School System. She had a passion for young children to gain an education but to love the concept of learning new things. Her motto: “Education is your key to success.”
She worked there for many years before she retired. She was a lifetime member of the Ladies Auxiliary Eugene Brown Post 521.
She is preceded in death by her father, Nathaniel Cleveland and mother Bertha Cantrell Cleveland. Along with three sister and two brothers. Her husband, Harold Anderson, Sr. and son Bishop Harold Anderson, Jr.

Flora leaves to share the joy from her heart and cherish her memories and legacy, her loving and devoted daughter, Theresa Puryear (Thomas, Hailey) a daughter-in-law, Pastor Jean Anderson. Her loving grandchildren, Harold “Tre” (Leinad) Anderson, Mena (Edward) Blackmon, Corey D. Anderson, Amir Willis, Kevin (Leisha) Anderson, Tereance R. Puryear. A host of great-grandchildren. A devoted granddaughter, LaTonya Anderson and special bonus granddaughter, Renee Windbush and nephew, Larry (Lolita) Aikens.
Flora also leaves to remember her kindness to her nephews and nieces and host of cousins and lifelong friends.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, February 2, 2023 from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at Memorial Park Riverside Chapel. Funeral services will be held 1:00 pm Friday, February 3, 2023 at St. Paul United Methodist Church, 705 Summit Street, Gainesville, GA 30501. Interment will be in Alta Vista Cemetery, Gainesville, GA.
