Mr. David Cummings, Sr. was born in Aiken, SC on July 9, 1936, to the late Allen Cummings Sr. and Minnie E. Cummings. He peacefully entered eternal rest on Monday, January 23, 2023.
His education was limited because he had to work in the fields but he had a special knack with numbers so there was no way you could trick him out of one red cent. David worked various jobs throughout his lifetime including Dixie Clay, Mary Brothers Brick, Poultry and Construction. His hobbies were fishing, hunting and gardening. On the weekend you would find him watching WWE Wrestling with his recliner chair bouncing up and down from his excitement of the wrestling match. David was such a jokester by making people laugh. He enjoyed watching Family Feud, Cruising around town with his dog and visiting the sick even when he was sick himself.
David was baptized at Mims Grove Baptist Church in Aiken, SC and received the Lord Jesus Christ into his life at a young age. In his later years, he relocated to Gainesville, GA and became a faithful member of Greater Timber Ridge Baptist Church where he was ordained and served on the Deacon Board. He was a praying man and enjoyed singing for the Lord. He was a devoted husband, loving father and a friend to many. David was the last living of eighteen siblings.
He is preceded in death by his parents Allen and Minnie E. Cummings; sons: Wayne Cummings and David Cummings, Jr. He is also preceded by his daughters: Izealia Cheeks Langston, Brelinda Cheeks Watson and Tina Cheeks Norman.
He leaves to cherish his memories by his loving and devoted wife Henrietta Cummings ; daughters: Janice C. (Grover) Young, Dorothy Cheeks, Carolyn (James) Robinson, Angela Bell, Jennifer (Jonathan) Robinson ; sons: Carl Cheeks and Allen Cummings (all of Gainesville, GA). A host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews, family and friends.
Funeral service will be held at Greater Timber Ridge Baptist Church on Saturday, January 28, 2023 at 1:00 PM. Visitation will be held on Friday, January 27, 2023 at Wimberly Funeral Home from 12:00 PM-4:00 PM. Family will receive friends from 5:00 PM - 8:00 PM at Greater Timber Ridge Baptist Church.
