Kathleen Cowart

Mrs. Kathleen Cowart, age 92 of Dahlonega passed away Sunday, January 29, 2023. She was born on August 10, 1930 in Kyle, North Carolina, to the late Thermond Carder and the late Dora Owenby. Kathleen was a caring and vivacious lady who enjoyed cooking, sewing, embroidery, fashion, and spending time with her family and friends. She had a strong will, a refreshing sense of humor and treasured being independent while she was able. The legacy of her strength and loving spirit will live on in the memories of her surviving family and friends. 

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her sister, Betty Jean Carroll and her step-daughter Billie Ann Ragsdale. 

She is survived by her children, Jerry (Martha) Cowart of Murrayville, Ben Cowart of Cool Springs, CO, and Scott (Terri) Cowart of Cleveland; step-daughter Faye (Ken) Jett of Dawsonville; grandchildren Jason Cowart, Kendra Cowart, Matt (Emma) Cowart, Alex (Rachel) Cowart, Madison Cowart; step-grandchildren Mark Jett and Tammy (David) Krauss; great-grandchildren Lane Cowart and Rylee Cowart; step great-grandchildren David Jett and Sharon Jett.

Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 AM on Wednesday, February 1, 2023 in the chapel of Anderson-Underwood Funeral with Rev. Stephen Gerrells and Rev. Andy Caldwell officiating. Interment will follow in the cemetery of Mt. Zion Baptist Church with Rev. Les Fuller officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, January 31, 2023 from 5:00 PM - 8:00 PM.
