June Lorene Dunn Nowell

June Lorene Dunn Nowell, age 80, of Dacula, GA passed away on January 27, 2023, after a lengthy battle with COPD.

June was born the oldest of six siblings on May 5, 1942 in Powder Springs, GA.  She grew up in the Methodist children’s Home in Decatur, GA and graduated from Avondale High School in 1960.  She briefly attended West Georgia College and began working for Southern Bell in Atlanta.  Later she worked for Columbia Pictures, Bobby Dodd Investments, the Federal Department of Labor, got her real estate license in September 1979 and worked as an agent for Ascue-Martin Brokers for two years, then McDonalds briefly in Duluth, followed by the Gwinnett County School System and finally spent 16 years as handbag specialist with Rich’s, eventually Macy’s at the Mall of Georgia.  She enjoyed this last job most of all.

She was predeceased by an infant son, Stephen Robert Nowell (a twin to Robert Stephen Nowell III), her father, Glenn Clifford Dunn, her mother, Lucile Virginia Wallace Dunn, brother Douglas Glenn Dunn and sister Nancy Jane Dunn Floyd.  She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Robert S. Nowell II of Dacula, GA, sons Robert S. Nowell III of Dacula, GA and Kevin Michael Nowell (Nicole Marie Johnson Nowell) of Gainesville, GA, granddaughter Kiersten MacKenzie Nowell of Gainesville, GA and grandson Kevin Matthew Nowell of Gainesville, GA brothers Larry Bell Dunn of Madison, GA, Roy Lee Dunn of Lawrenceville, GA and Harley Gene Dunn (Loreta) of Camp Hill, PA.

A graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, February 3, 2023 at Broadlawn Memorial Gardens, Buford, GA.  The family will receive friends from 10:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. Friday, February 3, 2023.
