Gail H. Shirley

Gail H. Shirley, age 84, of Buford, GA passed away on Saturday, January 21, 2023. She is preceded in death by her husband, Hugh Dorsey Shirley of 68 years; and her son, Hugh David Shirley; parents, Ernest and Ruby Hughes; sisters, Vautell Heard, Dorthy Cloud, Wynona Appleby, and brother E. W. Hughes. Mrs. Shirley is survived by her daughter, Heidi Shirley Starcher and husband Marty of Winder, GA; son, Jeffrey Lane (Jane) Shirley of Flowery Branch, GA; eight grandchildren, Hope and Steve Ussery, Heather and Neil Harrison, Amber and Marshall Reeves, Adam and Courtney Shirley, Andrew and Cassie Shirley, Alex Shirley, Avery Shirley, Stephanie Bean Jones; seven great grandchildren; sister, Brenda (Wayne) King of Buford, GA; sisters-in-law Dot Masters of Dacula, GA, Nancy (Gene) Wallace of Oakwood, GA, and Brenda Shirley; numerous nieces, nephews, and
cousins. Mrs. Shirley was born on June 29, 1938 in Buford, GA where is also received her education. She was a retired customer service representative from Siemens in Johns Creek, GA. Mrs. Shirley was a member of New Prospect United Methodist Church in Buford, GA. Although she had many joys in life, nothing brought her as much happiness as spending time with her family, and their frequent visits always brought a twinkle to her eye and smile to her face. When she wasn’t spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, you could always find her running about and shopping for them.  A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, January 26th at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Flanigan Funeral Home with Rev. Adam Shirley officiating. Interment will follow at New Prospect UMC Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 25th at the funeral home.
