On January 12, 2023, Michael Douglas Hudmon, Sr., age 72, passed away. He was surrounded by loved ones. Mike was born on August 16, 1950 in Lanett, Alabama. He spent the early years of his life in Conyers, Georgia.
Mike graduated from Truett McConnell University in Cleveland, Georgia, where he met his beloved wife of fifty years, and Carson-Newman University in Jefferson City, Tennessee. He went on to receive a Master of Divinity degree from The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, Kentucky.
Mike was a man of God. He served as pastor and chaplain in various ministries throughout the Southeast. He was a storyteller, friend, and connector. He had a big personality, a big laugh, a big sense of humor, and a big heart. He had a passion for checking in on others and sharing the word of God. Mike was a devoted husband, loving father, and adoring Papaw.
Mike is preceded in death by his parents, James and Madge Hudmon, and his brother Jim Hudmon. His memory lives on with his family; he is survived by his wife, Marjorie Vandiver Hudmon, his children Michael Hudmon, Jr. (Jennifer Hudmon) and Amanda Hudmon Gray (Mike Gray), and his grandchildren Timothy Hudmon, Makayla Hudmon, and Celia Gray.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at Hamilton Mill Memorial Chapel and Gardens in Buford, Georgia on January 28, 2023. There will be a visitation at 1:00 PM, followed by the service at 2:00 PM. Flowers can be sent to Hamilton Mill Memorial Chapel and Gardens for the service. Thereafter or in lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to The Shriners Hospital for Children.
