Mary F. Griffin Cordell Smith

Mrs. Mary F. Griffin Cordell Smith, age 78 of Toccoa passed away Thursday, January 5, 2023 at her home.

She was the daughter of the late Dee and Connie Pitts Griffin, born on February 15, 1944 in Stephens County, Georgia where she lived all her life.  She was a graduate of the University of North Georgia in 1981.  She was retired from Stephens County Hospital as an RN after 40 years of service.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Lance Cordell and her second husband, Frank Smith; siblings, Julius Griffin, Mickey Griffin, Randy Griffin, Calvin Griffin, Bobby Griffin and Linda Smith and by two granddaughters, Candice Cordell Martin and Sherita Cordell.

Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Gary and Sheila Cordell and Lamar and Edna Cordell both of Toccoa; brothers, Horace Griffin of Panama City, Florida and Jerry Griffin of Toccoa and sister, Deeann Griffin of Toccoa; grandchildren, Beth Cannon, Matthew Cordell, Clay Cordell, Mckenzie Cordell and Mckale Cordell; eight great-grandchildren; a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be Monday, January 9, 2023, 2 o’clock in the Hillcrest Chapel of the Acree-Davis Funeral Home with The Reverend Ray Bohannon and The Reverend Jewell Gaines officiating.  The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers, Matthew Cordell, Clay Cordell, Mckale Cordell, Kyle Griffin, Richard Griffin and Shannon Griffin.

The family will receive friends at the Acree-Davis Funeral Home on Monday, January 9 from noon until the service time.  Online condolences may be left for the family at www.acree-davisfh.com.

Interment will follow in the Zebulon Baptist Church Cemetery with the Acree-Davis Funeral Home and Crematory is in charge of the arrangements for Mrs. Mary F. Griffin Cordell Smith.
