Evelyn Foster

Evelyn Foster, 89, of Dahlonega passed away Wednesday, January 4, 2023.

Born February 22, 1933 in Blue Ridge to the late Tate and Essie Davenport, she lived most of her life in the Dawson and Lumpkin County area.  Evelyn formerly owned and operated Evelyn’s Country Kitchen in Dawsonville after which she worked several years as a caregiver.  A devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, she enjoyed gardening and cooking.  A member of New Hope Baptist Church, she was also preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, Arvil D. Foster; son, Lane David Foster; and brothers, Leeman Davenport, Lewis Davenport, Herbert Davenport, and Ernest Davenport.

Surviving are her children, Helen Hallum, Toccoa, Alan and Deborah Foster, Ellijay, Glenn and Rachel Foster, Dahlonega, Karen Turner, Dawsonville, Leon and Rita Foster, Dahlonega; 17 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; several great great grandchildren; sister, Darlene Jones, Dawsonville; and a number of other relatives.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 7, 2023 at 1 o’clock at Bearden Funeral Home Chapel.  Rev. Sam Rickett and Rev. Rodney Pilcher will officiate.  Interment will follow in the New Hope Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Friday from 4 until 8 at the funeral home.
