Avery Waters Davidson

Mrs. Avery Waters Davidson, age 79, of Dahlonega, passed away Tuesday, January 3, 2023.

Mrs. Davidson was a native and lifelong resident of Lumpkin County. She was born on December 13, 1943, to the late Jim and Jessie Eaton Waters. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter Elaine Faith Hewell and brother Leon Waters. Mrs. Davidson was a beloved mother to her four daughters, which she raised with the help of The Lord and a strong mother’s love. She was a beloved “Nanny” to her grandchildren and “Grandma” to her great-grandchildren. Mrs. Davidson used her hands to sew, quilt and garden. She used her heart to make you laugh and hold her family close. Mrs. Davidson was deeply loved and will be missed by her friends, family, and her fury baby and dearest friend “Chewy”.

Missing her most will be her daughters Tammy Skelton (Tony), Cleveland; Pamela Patterson, Dahlonega; Brenda Allen Davidson, Flowery Branch; sisters Gertrude Helton, Louise Etris (Bill), all of Dahlonega; grandchildren Jason Holtzclaw (Miriam), Jessica Allen, Vandiver Skelton (Stephanie), Hannah Skelton, Peyton Patterson (Karen), Mary Adeline Patterson, Olivia Grace Patterson, Alashia Damron (Rob), Kelsey Hewell; five great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 PM Friday, January 6, 2023, at the chapel of Anderson-Underwood Funeral Home. The Rev. Steve Baker will officiate. Interment will follow in Cradle Mountain Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM Thursday at the funeral home.
