William "Billy" Melvin Wright

Obituary Date: Saturday, December 31, 2022

William “Billy” Melvin Wright resident of Gainesville, Georgia passed away December 31st due to a battle with a cancerous brain tumor.

Billy is survived by his Fiancée Julie Jones, Mother Martha Ann Wright, Children Samantha Wright and Austin Wright, Son in Law Jermarquise Walker, Grandchildren Christopher and Ri’Onna Walker, Siblings Angela Cook, Cindy White, Kathy Vitali, Karen Hammock and Robert Wright; preceded in death by his father Arnold Melvin Wright, brother, Nick Wright, sister Michelle Wright. There are so many other family members that could be named that loved him deeply.  

Billy was born in Atlanta, Ga. July 12, 1954. He graduated from North Clayton High School and soon after joined the US Navy. He was a Vietnam Veteran who served from 1973 to 1979. He was stationed in Japan for his last deployment on the USS Midway which was during the evacuation of Saigon. Billy always worked hard his entire life with his final employer being Aero Bridge works as a supervisor traveling airports throughout the Southeast.

Billy was so proud of his daughter Samantha, son Austin, grandson Christopher and granddaughter Ri’Onna and loved them deeply. He found the love of his life Julie and was looking forward to retiring this December to have more time on their boat, visit the gulf coast more often and spend time camping and traveling to different lake locations.
