Betty Eileen Mize age 62 of Gainesville, Georgia passed away Saturday, December
31st 2022 at her residence following a sudden illness.
Betty was born in Commerce, Georgia to Louise Casey Davis
and the late Ulysses Davis. She was baptized at a young age at Antioch Baptist Church.
Betty Eileen Mize graduated from Gainesville High School in 1979, where she was a
member of the Thespian Society, FHA, DECA, and ran track. She then went on to further her
education at Lanier Area Technical School (Lanier Technical College) to obtain her diploma in
data processing.
Betty was preceded in death by her late husband Herschel Floyd Mize Sr., father
Ulysses Davis, her brother James Davis, and her two brothers in laws Herbie Mize Sr. and
Gregory Mize.
She is survived by her daughter and son in law Crystal and Tory Butler; daughter and
son in law Shameka and Ricky Bledson; son Herschel Mize Jr; all of Gainesville, Georgia. Her
six grandchildren: Cristavia Butler, Kiara Butler, Maya Butler, Shariyah Bledson, Aiden Bledson,
Makenzie Bledson. Her precious great granddaughter Raelyn McCoggle. Special daughter and
granddaughter: Crystal and Arianna Dye. Bonus granddaughter: Rickiya Bledson.
Betty is survived by three sisters Peggy (Jerry) Hammontree of Dalton, Ga, Sandra Davis of
Panama City Beach, Fl, and Brenda Davis of Gainesville, Ga. Sister in laws: Janice (Elderick Lytle),
Marcia Mize, Lisa Mize all of Gainesville, Ga. Brother in laws: Marvin Mize and
William Lashawn Mize of Gainesville, Ga. Lifelong friends, Mary Glasper, Valencia “Lynn” Snapp,
Inge Brown, Janice Jackson, and Evon Stephens; a host of nieces (great), nephews (great), cousins and friends.
Betty spent her days being a homemaker. She loved to write, sing, read, and spend
time with her grandkids. Family was everything to her. She loved sunsets and oceans but most
of all, Michael Jackson. Her beautiful life will forever be cherished in the lives of her family and
friends.
