Mrs. Katie Ruth Griffin Chambers, age 77 of Cleveland, Georgia and formerly of Toccoa passed away Saturday, December 31, 2022.
A daughter of the late Odis Griffin and Belle Sertain Griffin, she was born April 26, 1945 in Stephens County, Georgia where she lived most of her life. She was employed with Wright Manufacturing for a number of years. She was a member of Bowersville Church of God. She was a Godly woman that touched many lives as she taught Sunday School in many churches she attended. She devoted her entire life to her husband, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and all her other family and friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. John Wayne Chambers, Sr. in 2017, daughter, Pamela Chambers, son, Matthew Chambers, great-granddaughter, Charley Ruth Chambers and by her siblings, Roy Griffin, Floyd Griffin, and Annie Turpin.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Tammy and Chris Oliver of Walhalla, South Carolina; four sons and daughters-in-law, Wayne and Rhonda Chambers of Cleveland, Georgia, Michael and Marsha Chambers and Shannon and Christy Chambers both of Toccoa and Josh and Chrisie Chambers of Seneca, South Carolina; eighteen grandchildren and twenty three great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, January 4, 2023, 2 o’clock p.m. in the Hillcrest Chapel of the Acree-Davis Funeral Home with The Reverend Randall Starrett and The Reverend Travis Pitts officiating. The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers, Justin Chambers, Tyler Chambers, Levi Oliver, Matthew Chambers, Hunter Chambers, Gage Chambers, Drew Wilson, Griffin Chambers and Maddox Chambers.
The family will receive friends at the Acree-Davis Funeral Home on Tuesday, 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.acree-davisfh.com.
Interment will follow in the Rose Hill Cemetery, Royston, Georgia with The Reverend Tim Griffin officiating.
