It is with great sadness that the family of Deborah S. Bilger of Sautee, GA announces her passing. Deb died peacefully at her home surrounded by family, friends and her
beloved pets on December 17, 2022.
Deborah received her Diploma in Nursing from Allegheny Valley Hospital School of Nursing (now Citizens), Natrona Heights, PA, and both her Bachelor of Science in Nursing and Master of Science in Nursing degrees from Penn State University, University Park, PA. She offered compassionate and loving care to patients and staff at Hershey Medical Center and the Masonic Village at Elizabethtown, PA. For over 40 years in these clinical settings, Deborah served in various roles as Nursing Supervisor, Clinical Nurse Educator, Orthopedic Nurse Specialist, Nursing Manager/Evening House Coverage and Staff/Charge Nurse.
Deborah held nursing licenses in both Pennsylvania and Georgia. She held certifications in Basic Cardiac Life Support Provider, Wound Care (WCC) and Orthopedic Nursing (ONC)
Deb was an active participant in Skyladies and fully supported all of their charitable efforts.
Deb was a very caring and generous person, helping others and lifting up her community wherever she lived. After her retirement Deb was always quick to offer to drive neighbors to their appointments or to deliver delicious meals when needed. God also gave Deb gifts of music and hospitality. She loved to sing, set a beautiful table and often burned the midnight oil making tasty treats for all of us to enjoy. During her lifetime, Deb enjoyed playing volleyball, tennis, and her most recent sport of pickleball. She was deeply loved by her family and friends.
Deborah was preceded in death by her parents, William C. Bilger and Dorothy V. Bilger, two sisters Bonnie L. Vilk (Edward) and Kathleen E. Mooney, two brothers William C. Bilger II (Patricia) and Kenneth B. Bilger (twin of Kathleen).
Deb is survived by her life companion and soulmate, Becky Mikel of Sautee, GA, two sisters, Joy B. Goehring (Charles) of Indianapolis, IN, Janice L. Kaufman (Wayne) of New Holland, PA, brother-in-law David Mooney of Greensburg PA, as well as many nephews, nieces, great nephews, great nieces, and cherished friends at Skylake and throughout the nation.
In lieu of flowers Deb’s family has requested that gifts in her memory be designated for the Smithgall Humane Society, Sautee, GA, Hospice of NGMC (North Georgia Medical Center), Gainesville, GA, or the charity of your choice.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at Skylake Clubhouse, Sautee, GA on January 7, 2023, at 11:00 a.m.
