John B. Propes

Mr. John B. Propes, 86, of Flowery Branch, passed away Monday, December 19, 2022 at his residence with his family by his side.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, December 22, 2022 in the Chapel of Memorial Park Funeral Home. Rev. Mike Taylor, Rev. Joe Vernon, and Rev. Zack Williams will officiate. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Memorial Park Funeral Home on Wednesday, December 21, 2022 from 3:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. and from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.

Born on December 2, 1936 in Gainesville, he was the son of the late William Wright Propes and Mary Ann Bramlett Propes. He was retired from the Department of Agriculture. Mr. Propes was a member of Flat Creek Baptist Church.

He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He never met a stranger, was a friend to all who knew him and was loved by so many. He was an avid hunter and fisherman; he loved riding horses and woodworking and enjoyed being outdoors. He will be greatly missed by so many.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Propes is preceded in death by his son and daughter in law, David and Carrie Propes; son, Darryl Propes and brother and sister in law, Billy Joe and Mildred Propes.

Mr. Propes is survived by his wife of 65 years, Barbara Propes of Flowery Branch; daughter and son in law, Barbara and J.T. Pirkle of Flowery Branch; daughter in law, Diane Propes of Flowery Branch; sister, Sue Smallwood of Flowery Branch; brother, Harry Propes of Flowery Branch; grandson and wife, Derrick and Nikki Propes of Buford; granddaughter, Kristi Johnston and Andrew Williams of Gainesville; grandson and wife, Brandon and Ashley Propes of Statham; granddaughter and wife, Jamey and Amy Broom of Oakwood; grandson and wife, Casey and Allison Propes of Jefferson; grandson and wife, Justin and Casey Pirkle of Flowery Branch; grandsons, Zach Propes, Jasper Propes both of Flowery Branch; 11 great grandchildren and a number of nieces, nephews and other loving relatives.
