She married the late Marvin Stringer December 13, 1959 and was married for 42 years until his death in 2002; and to this union 4 children were born.
She was preceded in death by her infant son, Benjamin, husband, Marvin, parents, and siblings: Larry, George and Irene Watson.
She worked for Gainesville Manufacturing for a number of years until she became a full time homemaker and cared for her children and so many other children throughout the years. After the passing of her husband, she went back to school and obtained her GED and then entered college, taking a few classes all after age 65. She worked several years at WillowWood Nursing Center and then for more than 15 years at Lanier Village Estates in housekeeping until the Covid-19 pandemic forced her to retire.
At an early age she joined Mt. Zion Baptist Church and started her walk with the Lord. She actively served as a member of the Senior Choir and Mass Choirs, as a director for the Children & Youth choirs, and as a Deaconess. She had a close personal relationship with God and her desire was for her children, grandchildren and immediate family to be saved and join her one day in heaven. Her mission and ministry was always to provide a word of encouragement to all those she came in contact with. She loved sharing a word from God with the residents at Lanier Village Estates and with the many she came in contact with even the nurses who cared for her during the past 4½ years.
Her hobbies were playing the piano, sewing, and doing alterations on all types of clothing. She loved singing for the Lord and a favorite song of hers was “His Eye is on the Sparrow” which she sang many times while in the Senior Choir.
