Eloise R. Gilmer 97, of Gainesville died Wednesday December 7, 2022. Eloise was born in Austell, GA on November 23, 1925, to the late William and Rebecca Reeves.
Following his death in 1971, Gainesville's airport was named after her late husband Lee Gilmer, Eloise had a love for aviation and enjoyed flying and they owned a Cessna dealership. Eloise was an administrative assistant with the City of Gainesville utilities department for over 30 years.
In addition to her parents and husband Eloise is preceded in death by her sister, Dorothy Reeves Owens and niece, Barbara Owens Holbrook.
She is survived by nieces and nephews, Arthur Larrry (Mary) Owens, Kathy (Douglas) Johnson, Becky Elliott, Robert (Tami) Owens and many great nieces, nephews and friends.
The family wishes to express great appreciation for the care and love given to Eloise during her stay at Townsend Health and Rehab and Affinis Hospice and her special friends in Gainesville for their assistance with her care over the years.
Graveside services will be held Tuesday December 13, 2022, at 1:00 p.m. at the Alta Vista Cemetery. Chaplin Jude Charles of Affinis Hospice will officiate. Interment will follow at Alta Vista.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial contributions in Mrs. Gilmer's name to the Brenau University School of Nursing, Give Online - Giving to Brenau.
