James “Jim” Ray Collier Staff Sargent USAF age 89 of Buford, GA passed away peacefully on December 8, 2022. He was preceded in death by parents Ray and Anna Collier, wife Carol Ann Collier, sister Vivian Fryman. He is survived by his sister Katherine Gremillion, brother Jack (Sharon) Collier, son Keith (Gail) Collier and daughters Paula (Spencer) Smith and Sue (Greg) Criswell. Granddaughters Brianna (Matt) Long and Brooke (Ben) Busbee and Allison (Chuck) Griffin. Grandsons Branan Smith, Geoffrey Criswell, Evan Criswell, eight great-grandchildren and numerous nephews, nieces, and cousins.
Jim was born and raised in Middletown Ohio and served his country with distinction during the Korean War as a jet engine mechanic for the USAF Thunderbirds. Following his military service, he worked as a mechanical engineer in the textile industry and aircraft component inspection field. After corporate retirement, Jim worked part time as a Real estate broker in the Northeast GA area.
Jim was described by his many friends as a charming, lovely and gracious man. He always enjoyed lively conversation, a good joke and dining with friends. He was consummate engineer and could repair or build just about anything mechanical. Jim was an extraordinarily positive influence on his family and friends. While his presence will be greatly missed, his influence will live on in all who knew and loved him.
The family will receive friends Monday December 12, from 1-1:45 pm at Hamilton Mill Memorial Chapel & Gardens, 3481 Hamilton Mill Rd.
