Mr. Richard “Runt” Smallwood, 46, of Gainesville, passed away Monday, December 5, 2022.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, December 10, 2022 in the Chapel of Memorial Park Funeral Home. Interment will follow in St. Paul United Methodist Church. The family will receive friends at Memorial Park Funeral Home on Thursday December 8th and Friday, December 9th from 11:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m.
Born on July 7, 1976, he was a son to Janice Smallwood Stringer and the late L.D. Smallwood. Mr. Smallwood was employed with the City of Gainesville, Water Resources and he was a member of Mossy Creek Baptist Church.
A loving Husband, dad, granddad and brother, his family was all to him. Especially, his grandson Atreus, whom he thought the sun rose and set in. When grandad walked in the room, no one else existed anymore and the feeling was certainly mutual.
As a car enthusiast, Runt loved working on and restoring old cars and he loved to race.
In addition to his father, Mr. Smallwood was preceded in death by twin brother Roger Smallwood and brother, James Smallwood.
Mr. Smallwood is survived by his wife of 20 years, Kelly Smallwood of Gainesville; son, Andrew “Bubba” Lee of Cleveland; son and daughter in law, Christopher and Amber Lee of Gainesville; grandson, Atreus Lee of Gainesville; sister, Amanda Maloch (Joey) of Dahlonega; brother, Benny Loggins (Debbie) of Murrayville; sister, Nancy Chambers (Jason) of Dahlonega; special cousins, Christy and Jason Clore; special co-workers (friends), Mickey Durden and Gary Ford and the entire staff at the Water Resources and a number of nieces, nephews and other loving relatives.
