Reba Virginia Ruth, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother passed away peacefully in her home on Tuesday, November 29, 2022, at the age of 93. Reba was born on June 26, 1929, in Limestone, Tennessee, the daughter of Charlie and Jack Holt.
Her life is marked by her strong faith in the Lord, her love of family, and her kindness to every person she met. Reba was a devoted member of Chicopee United Methodist Church, where she served in multiple capacities throughout her over 50 years of service there. Reba’s life served as a testament to those around her and she will be remembered as a true woman of God. Now with the Lord, we know she has heard the words, “well done good and faithful servant.”
Reba’s greatest joy in life was her family. She was a proud mother to her only child Mike, an unwavering source of support, spiritual guidance and unconditional love, and was endearingly called “Nanny” by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Before retiring, Reba dedicated her professional years to Carol’s Closet in Gainesville, GA. Reba had a knack and love for fashion that she utilized as the store’s manager and buyer for several decades. In her spare time, Reba enjoyed gardening, traveling and cooking.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, Jimmy; her parents Charles and Jack Holt; her siblings Raymond (Norma Dean) Holt, Marshall Holt, Ruth (Max) Bible, Bill (Diane) Holt, Paul Holt; brother-in-law Sam Daniels.
She is survived by her son, Mike Ruth; grandchildren, Sean (Tricia) Ruth, Shelley (Colt) Longwell, Caroline (Bryan) Baer and John David (Mariah) Ruth; great-grandchildren Mary Carter Ruth, Tate Ruth, Skylar Longwell and Blake Baer; sister, Shirley Daniels of Johnson City, TN; sister-in-law Mary Louise “Porky” Holt of Bluff City, TN; and several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to her dear caregiver, Crystal Greenway.
A Celebration of Life service will be held Tuesday December 6, 2022, at 3:00 p.m. in the chapel of Little & Davenport Funeral Home. Reverend Mike Pinson and Reverend David Smith will officiate.
