Mrs. Virginia Sami Baker Fulford, 85, of Athens, passed away Friday, November 18, 2022 following a brief illness.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, November 27, 2022 in the Chapel of Memorial Park Funeral Home. Rev. Allen Rogers and Rev. Bob Walk will officiate. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Memorial Park Funeral Home on Saturday, November 26th from 7:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m.
Virginia was born in Gainesville on June 4, 1937 to the late John P. Baker, Sr. and Cordie Elliott Baker. She was married to the late James Head of New Holland. She was employed with Guilford Mills where she was an inspector. After the passing of Mr. Head, she married Walter Owen Fulford and after his passing, she moved to Athens to be near her son. She was of the Baptist faith.
In addition to her parents and husbands, Mrs. Fulford was preceded in death by her brothers, Willie, Rudolph, Henry, Buddy, J.W., C.H and John P. Baker.
Mrs. Fulford is survived by her daughter, Karen Regina Carroll of Gainesville; son and daughter in law, James Sammy and Tamera Head of Athens; grandsons, Adam Tyler Head, Joel Evan Head; granddaughters, Lydia Cantrell, Lyndsay Tribble; four great grandchildren and a number of other loving relatives.
