Bernard "Bernie" Edward Ferguson

Obituary Date: Sunday, November 13, 2022
Bernard “Bernie” Edward Ferguson, of Braselton, a dedicated husband, father and grandfather during his incredible 93 years of life, passed away peacefully in the early hours of Sunday, November 13, 2022.
He was born to Joseph and Stella Figurski in Erie, PA on September 22, 1929. Bernie recently celebrated his 72nd wedding anniversary with his wife Phyllis who is now 91 years old. He is also survived by 5 children and their families including 33 grandchildren, great grandchildren and foster children.
Bernie retired from Weyerhaeuser, formerly MacMillan Bloedel, 30 years ago, wherein he received the company “President’s” award for outstanding performance in cost control, operations management and safety.
A family man, Bernie gave of his time and resources nurturing young minds. He launched a Boy Scout Troop 2 at St. Peter & Paul’s Catholic Church in Sandusky, Ohio and continued to lead the group for many years giving up personal time for scheduled Jamborees, summer camps and other sponsored events. He enjoyed being involved in coaching and sports and served youth groups as an umpire in Elmira NY. During that service, Bernie umpired young athletes through college level baseball for 20 years becoming, at that time, the oldest certified umpire in NY State.
He will be missed. But the values Bernie exemplified and instilled will become his legacy which will be forever remembered by our family and the many he touched both young and old.
