Neil Lapham Humphrys, Jr., of Cleveland, GA sadly passed away on November 17, 2022 at the age of 86 just 2 weeks shy of his 87th birthday.
He is survived by his five children; Neil L Humphrys, III, Melanie C. Tilson, Morgan L Humphrys, Harry A Humphrys, and Genevieve J Humphrys. He also is survived by six grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild.
Neil was born in Jacksonville, FL on November 30, 1935. He lived in Cocoa, FL for most of his young life but also had short times in Columbus, OH and Miami, FL. During his time in Miami, he contracted Polio and survived. He had an interesting life. As a young kid in Cocoa, he and his mother were plane spotters during WWII. He spent a lot of time at his father’s citrus groves on Merritt Island, FL. He eventually moved to Fort Lauderdale, FL where he attended high school and ultimately met the love of his life, Nancy E Lynn (d.1983). They married and had five children. He worked for Florida Power and Light for 17 years and lived in Florida until they moved the family up to Blairsville, GA. He moved the family to Demorest, GA and resided there in 1985 when he remarried to Viola Irvin Palmer (d.2012) and moved to Cleveland, GA.
After a long battle with several ailments, he passed away peacefully. He is finally at peace and can be with all of the loved ones he had survived.

Memorial services are scheduled for 6 P.M. Sunday, November 20, 2022 from the Chapel of Barrett Funeral Home.
