After a valiant battle with cancer, Mr. Emory Rhuel “Bud” Kelley, II, age 77, of Gainesville, GA, formerly of Toccoa, went home to be with Jesus Saturday, November 12, 2022 at his home surrounded by his loving family.
Born February 28, 1945 in Oconee County, SC, he was the son of the late Marjorie Burley Kelley and Emory Rhuel Kelley. Bud graduated from Stephens County High School, lived in Toccoa for many years and then in 1984 he and his family moved to Gainesville, GA. His deep love for his family was unwavering. For many years and up until his illness, Bud enjoyed attending Riverbend Church. He had a strong, quiet faith that showed in how much he cared for others. He would do anything to help someone.
Family members include his beloved wife of 58 years, Carole Taylor Kelley, of the home; daughter Angela “Angie” Jakel (Otto) of Clermont, GA; son Brian Kelley (Amy) of Clermont, GA; granddaughters Ava Jakel, Chelsea Jakel, Taylor Anne Kelley Nix (Cole); grandson Emory Kelley; sisters Donna Kelley Smart (Pete) and Lila Kelley; brother Tommy Kelley (Kay); 4 nieces and 2 nephews; a brother-in-law, Barry Coker (Mary); and a sister-in-law, Janet Vandiver.
He was preceded in death by nephew Roger Smart, his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Joe and Willard Taylor, and a brother-in-law, Dan Vandiver.
At his request, a private family service will be held at a future time. The family would like to express their sincere thanks to all who encouraged and prayed for Bud.
