Thelma “Lucile” (Pepper) Dale, 92, of Gillsville went home to be with her Lord on Sunday, November 13, 2022.
Lucile was born in Hall County on February 13, 1930 to the late George and Maggie Pepper. Lucile was married to J.C. Dale on May 14, 1948. Together, Lucile and J.C. built a home of love for 57 years that was Christ-centered. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. Lucileworked for P&W Grocery where she formed many lifelong friendships. Lucile loved to cook, garden, travel, and spend time with family. She was affectionately known to her grandchildren as “Nana”. Lucile was most known for her Christmas gatherings, cheesecakes, and famous yeast rolls. She was a member of Midway Methodist Church and most recently attended Hopewell Baptist where she was a member of the Senior Adult Life Group (Willing Workers).
Lucile loved her family and most of all she loved her Lord Jesus. Her desire was for all to know Jesus in a personal relationship.
Lucile was preceded in death by her late husband J.C. Dale; sister, Grace Roberts; sisters-in-law, Merle Sims, Eva Perdue, Jeanette Dale, Mildred Lewallen, Nervie Turpin, and Jean Whitehead; brothers-in-law, W.F. Sims, Vance Lewallen, Otis Turpin, Donald Perdue, and Jobie Roberts; nieces, Dianne Autry, Patricia Collins, Jane Warwick and Teena Pepper; nephew, Curtis Collins.
Left to cherish the sweet memories son, Terry (Wanda) Dale; daughter, Myra Sue (Rex) Whidby; grandchildren, Blake (Lisa) Whidby, Rodney (Jodi) Dale, Darbi Whidby, Heather (Kent) Barrett; brothers, Donald (Brenda) Pepper, Wendall (Sarah) Pepper; brothers-in-law, John Dale, Marshall (Wilma) Dale, Samuel (Peggy) Dale; 9 great-grandchildren, 10 great-great-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life will be held on Friday, November 18 at 11:00 a.m. from the chapel of Little and Davenport funeral home with Dr. Kent Barrett and Rev. Marshall Dale officiating. Interment will follow in Midway Methodist Church cemetery with Rev. Ray Turpin and Rev. Samuel Dale. The family will receive friends on Thursday, November 17 from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
