Ray Lewis Lanier, Sr., age 90, of Dawsonville, Georgia, passed peacefully from this life on October 28, 2022. He was born to the late Louis and Almarita Lee Lanier on August 2, 1932, in Metter, Georgia. Ray served in the United States Air Force from 1951-1955 during the Korean War. After his military service, he had a long career with AT&T. During his retirement he started his own business, North Georgia Building Inspectors, Inc., and taught many classes on the subject all over the Southeast. Ray loved God and his family and made friends everywhere he went.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 65 years, Kay Lanier; brothers; Bobby Lanier (Eveleen), and Mitchell Lanier.
He is survived by his brother; Hillis Lanier (Jean) of Suwanee, GA,; sister-in-law Faye Lanier of Metter, GA.; sons: Ray Lanier, Jr. (Evelyn) of South
Carolina, Michael Lanier (Tracie) of Henderson, TN, Andrew Lanier of the
Philippines, Gregory Lanier, Sr. (Lynn) of Cumming, GA. He leaves behind
his grandchildren whom he adored: Jamie Lanier, Josh Lanier, Julie Birl (Brett), Thomas Lanier (Lindsay), Nathan Lanier, Tallulah Lanier, and Gregory Lanier, Jr., He was also blessed with many great-grandchildren: Luke, Micah, Eve, Sophia,
Nora, Delanie, Mason, and EllaRae; step grandchildren; Arelyn Avila-
Sonora (Alex), Melissa Avila (Eric Santiago); step great-grandchildren;
Brayden, Brandon, Brady and Aliyah; and numerous other relatives also survive.
The family would like to express their gratitude to Manor Lake Assisted Living, especially Anny, Vicki, Missy, Skye, and Crystal, for their daily love and compassion.
A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, November 18, 2022, at 3:00 p.m. at the Bearden Funeral Home Chapel in Dawsonville, GA. With Full Military Honors.
The family will receive friends on Friday from 1:00 p.m. until service time.
Ray will be interned at a later date at the Georgia National Cemetery, Canton, GA.
