Barry Lombardo

Barry Lombardo departed this world on October 26, 2022, after a valiant battle with cancer.  He was born in Poughkeepsie, New York in 1946 to June Walker and James Lombardo.  Barry was raised in Savannah, Georgia, and, during the height of the Vietnam War, he enlisted in the Marine Corps.  After serving with distinction in the War earning a Purple Heart, he returned to Georgia.  After graduating from Georgia State College, and working as a probation officer, he received a grant from the State of Georgia to start the Fulton County Adjustment Center, where he helped juvenile offenders become more equipped to return to society successfully.  He did this while attending law school at night and graduated from Woodrow Wilson College of Law.

Barry was a criminal defense attorney for many years and the last twenty years, he served only in Federal Court.  He enjoyed the practice of law and all the camaraderie of both the prosecutors and defense attorneys.  All that knew Barry will miss his wonderful sense of humor and his easy going southern style.

Barry lived on Lake Lanier for 40 years of his life.  He enjoyed boating, traveling to the Cayman Islands every year and a good cigar on his porch with his beloved dogs.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 37 years, Gail, his sister-in-law, Pat (Ned), his beloved niece, Cynthia (OJ), his great nephew, Joshua, his nephew, Scott (Amanda) and his nephew, Dennis (Summer) and various great nieces and nephews.

Barry was preceded in death by his mother, June and his brother, Jeffrey, his sister-in-law, Joan and his brother-in-law, Michael.
