Robert "Rob" W. Warrilow, 93 of Gainesville, passed away Thursday October 27, 2022, at Lanier Village Estates.
Rob was born in Pontiac, Michigan of immigrant English parents. He attended the University of Michigan from 1946-1949. He enlisted in the United States Army for three years in 1950 and became staff sergeant in the medical detachment of a field artillery battalion. He was with the unit during 1951 when it was in action above the 38th parallel in North Korea. Rob finished his army commitment in 1953 and entered Wayne University in Detroit. There he met his wife, Tine. He graduated in 1955, the year they were married.
Rob had two careers. He was in city, county and regional planning for 21 years, in Detroit, California, and the last 14 years with the city of Alpharetta. He promoted, then became administrator for construction of the Big Creek Greenway in Alpharetta. This time was sandwiched around 17 years in elementary education in California, Holland, Belgium and Yugoslavia. He was the principal at the schools in Europe.
Rob was very active at Mt. Bethel United Methodist Church in Marietta for 23 years and at the Gainesville First United Methodist Church from 2005.
Survivors include his devoted wife Tine of 67 years, son Randy and wife Meranda, son Ted and wife JoAnne, and 6 grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be held Monday, 10:30 a.m. October 31, at Georgia National Cemetery.
