Joan Helen McBryant

Joan Helen McBryant, age 90, of Buford, Georgia, passed away Wednesday, October 26, 2022. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jessie and Melvin Bird; brother Pete Shelton. She is survived by daughter, Becky McBryant; son and daughter-in-law, Mike and Julie McBryant; grandchildren, Katie and John Gulisano, Ben and Kayla McBryant; great-grandchildren, Johnny and Hazel Gulisano, Harleigh James and Hank McBryant.

Joan was born in Wilmington, Delaware on July 24, 1932. She attended Trevecca Nazarene University in Nashville, Tennessee. She was saved and baptized at the age of 13 and continued to be active in church throughout her life. She retired from Minolta and worked in her later years at Gwinnett County Food Services. Joan was a member of Sugar Hill Church where she participated in many ministries.

Joan loved her friends and family. She and Becky were inseparable. She loved to travel and read. She was a wonderful cook and always displayed her food as a form of art. She also wrote a fun article each week called “Mama Joan’s Garden of Eatin’“  for the newspaper. Joan is now at peace with many of her friends and family in the presence of her Lord.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, October 29, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel of Flanigan Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until time for the service at 11:00 a.m. 

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Sugar Hill Church Backpack Ministry or Christmas Family Ministry in memory of Joan McBryant.
