Mr. Mark Lindsay Dawson, age 59 of Cleveland, Georgia formerly of Gainesville, Georgia passed away Tuesday, October 25, 2022. He was born in Athens, Georgia on March 28, 1963, to the late Jeptha Rucker Dawson and Helen Elizabeth Landrum Dawson.
Mark was a proud veteran and served his country honorably in the United States Marine Corps. He spent four years of active service and eight years in the Army Reserves. While serving with the Marine Corp, Mark spent time at Camp Lejeune as well as in Beirut. He made many lifelong friends during his time of service. Mark was a true Marine through and through for his entire life, exemplifying the true meaning of the Marine Corps Motto, “Semper Fidelis”- Always Faithful. For throughout Mark's whole life, he was a faithful father, brother, and friend to many.
Survivors include his children, Pierce Dawson of Manhattan, NY, Owen Dawson of Monroe, GA; siblings Kathy (Charles) Lee of Acworth, Rick (Jill) Dawson of Athens, Andy (Donna) Dawson of Winterville, Anita Dawson of Cleveland, Lori (Paul) White of Murrayville, and Luke Dawson of Cleveland; numerous nieces, nephews, friends, and other relatives.
Memorial Services are scheduled for Sunday, November 6, 2022, at 2:00 PM in the chapel of Little & Davenport Funeral Home with the Rev. Ken Grindle officiating. Military honors will be held. The family will receive friends at Little & Davenport Funeral Home on Sunday, November 6, 2022, from 12:00 PM until service hour. Little & Davenport Funeral Home is located at 355 Dawsonville Highway, Gainesville, Georgia 30501. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Emory’s Winship Cancer Institute in memory of Mark.
