Mildred Lee Martin

Ms. Mildred Lee Martin, age 95 of Gainesville, passed away Tuesday, October 18, 2022 at The Landing of Gainesville following an extended illness.   

Funeral services are scheduled for Saturday, October 22, 2022 at 1:00 pm at Chestatee Baptist Church with interment to follow in the church cemetery.  Reverend Powell Sailors will officiate.  The family will receive friends on Friday, October 21, 2022 from 2 – 4pm and 6 – 8 pm at the funeral home.

Ms. Martin was born May 28, 1927 in Gainesville, Georgia to the late Utah Martin and Ola Pirkle Martin.  She was retired from Gainesville City School System, but also taught school at Lyman Hall, Miller Park and Fair Street, during her teaching career.  Mildred taught Sunday School at Chestatee Baptist Church and at the time of her death, she was the oldest member of Chestatee Baptist Church, being a member there all her life.  She was loved by all of her students, always showing love and affection for her.  Even through her illness, she reached out and touched lives of many.  Mildred was preceded in death by her brothers, Mark Martin, Milton Martin and Merritt Martin and her sister, Mattie Jane Talley.      

Ms. Martin is survived by her daughter, Fonda Martin of Gainesville, her son & daughter-in-law, Hugh & Carol Martin of Cleveland, her grandchildren, Cheyenne & Kevin Dye, Sarah & Todd Gibson, Emily Romine, Mary Lynn & Joseph Caudell, Leigh Ann Romine and Mark Floyd, her great-grandchildren, Brycen Dye, Gavin Schwartz, Jacob Gibson, Daniel Gibson, Lauren Dye and Harper Caudell, sister & brother-in-law, Montene & Jimmy Lewis of Gainesville and sister-in-law, Bobbie Martin of Cornelia.
