Roselyn Estrilla Melville 71, of Port of Spain, Trinidad answered God’s call on Thursday, October 13, 2022. Mrs. Roselyn Melville was born to the late Cuthbert Hinkson and Juanita Rose Hinkson on May 3, 1951.
Roselyn moved to America at age 16 and resided with her Aunt Roselyn Fleary in Brooklyn, New York. She attended the New School of Fashion and design. She married Preston Melville and relocated to Atlanta, Georgia. They were one of the first Caribbean West Indian families to move to the Atlanta.
Roselyn played a role in establishing Caribbean culture in her community which helped to birth what we now know as the Atlanta Carnival parade. Roselyn also worked as a retail Manager for Atlanta Hartsfield International Airport.
Her biggest passions were her Caribbean culture, art, travel and supporting her family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her Father Cuthbert Hinkson, Mother Juanita Rose Hinkson, Brother, George Hinkson.
She is survived by her Son, Alimayu Melville, Sugar Hill, Ga; (Daughter in Law, Saeila Melville); Sister, Jocelyn Edwards, of Toronto, Canada; Niece, AstraDee Edwards, Louisiana; Granddaughters, Sara Carter, and Aliyah Seger; Great Grandsons, Makai Irvin. Along with a host of close family aboard in Trinidad and special friends.
A Funeral Service will be held at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, October 22, 2022 in the Chapel of Flanigan Funeral Home, Buford, GA. The family will receive friends at the Funeral Home from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the Service at 3:30 p.m.
