It is with profound sadness that we share the news that the Rev. Franklin Grimes Colladay went home to the Lord on Saturday, October 15, 2022. He had been wrestling for some time with various health issues and is now at peace.
Graduating from Columbia Theological Seminary and ordained as a Presbyterian Minister of Word and Sacrament in November of 1978, Frank went on to serve as the Pastor of the Pleasant Hill Presbyterian Church and then pastored the Dahlonega Presbyterian Church for 30 years before retiring in 2009 when he was named Pastor Emeritus. He selflessly committing his "energy, intelligence, imagination, and love" to the students at Camp Buc and Montreat Youth Conference and was a faithful member of the Northeast Georgia Presbytery, serving as Moderator three times, and on numerous committees. Frank was also a founding member of the Dahlonega Lumpkin County Ministerial Association and a founding member of board of the Little Village Montessori School.
Frank found joy in uniting couples in marriage and performed countless weddings in Dahlonega. Serving the Lumpkin County Schools and the University of North Georgia, Frank volunteered in multiple capacities over the years. Frank’s service to his community and the church was profound, and his life was characterized by his abiding passion for all to know the justice, mercy, and generous welcome of God's grace. He will be deeply missed, but we rejoice knowing that though he is apart from us for a little while, he is present with the Lord.
Frank is survived by his brother Steve Colladay in Lees Summit, Missouri and was preceded in death by his parents, Franklin and Margaret Colladay and his brother David Colladay.
