Mr. JW Seabolt, age 91, of Gainesville, Georgia, passed away Saturday, October 15, 2022, after a brief but brave battle with cancer.
Funeral services will be held 1:30 pm Wednesday, October 19, 2022 at Memorial Park Riverside Chapel with interment to follow in Alta Vista Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm Tuesday, October 18, 2022 at the funeral home.
Mr. Seabolt was born July 21, 1931 in Lumpkin County, Georgia. He was the son of the late Willis Jefferson Seabolt and Nervie Miller Seabolt, the youngest of their six children. Mr. Seabolt briefly worked as a schoolteacher in Lumpkin County before settling in Gainesville with the love of his life, the late Joan Young Seabolt. JW devoted his life to raising a family of four children, and cultivating a garden and friendships in his neighborhood, and recently became known as Over-the-Fence-Man to his neighbors, so named for his inclination to give them some of his home-grown vegetables over his back fence. His family remembers him best as a loving, serious, hard-working man who, at 91, still insisted on mowing his own yard and raking his own leaves. He loved playing his piano for his family and usually accompanied his late wife when she sang.
Mr. Seabolt is preceded in death by his siblings, Gordon Seabolt, Marlie Seabolt, Myrtle Winkler, Stella Grizzle and Lola Wheeler
He is survived by his children; son, Lowell Seabolt of Gainesville; son, Mylan and Lisa Seabolt of Gainesville; daughter, Marsha and David Lucree of Savannah; son, Loren and Sharon Seabolt of Flowery Branch; as well as his grandchildren, granddaughter, Lindsay and Christopher McClain; grandson, Jared Lindorme of Savannah; granddaughters, Satiera Seabolt; grandson, Brian Seabolt of Flowery Branch and a number of other family and friends also survive.
