Melba Lewallen Wiley, age 72, of Lula, passed away on Thursday, October 13, 2022.
Born on April 24, 1950, in Gainesville, she was the daughter of the late Rufus Lee Lewallen and Reba Hooper Lewallen. Mrs. Wiley was retired from Peerless Winsmith, and had previously worked at Leece Neville. Melba was a wonderful wife, and exceptional mother who loved her family and friends. She is described by her family as a saint, and a fun-loving person who enjoyed cooking, going out to eat, and riding horses with her husband. She considered herself very blessed to have a daughter, when her son married Jennifer Edge.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her mother-in-law, Versie Wiley.
Survivors include her loving husband of 53 years, A. W. “Junior” Wiley of Lula; son and daughter-in-law, Jonny Wiley (Jennifer) of Lula; brothers-in-law, Jackie Wiley (Rita) of Murrayville, Kerry “Monk” Wiley (Donna) of Lula, and Tommy Wiley (Debbie) of Cleveland; extended family, Kabe and Jodi Cain of Clermont, and their children, Ensley, Bailey, and McKinley; very special friend, Judy Pruitt of Gillsville; numerous nieces and nephews, and great nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 5 – 8 pm on Sunday, October 16, 2022, at the funeral home.
Services are scheduled for 2 pm on Monday, October 17, 2022, in the Chapel of McGahee-Griffin & Stewart with Rev. Drewery Loggins officiating. Interment will follow at Clemons Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery.
