Mrs. Latrelle Cheek Vickers, age 97 of Oakwood, passed away on Thursday, October 13, 2022 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center following an extended illness.
Funeral services are scheduled for Saturday, October 15, 2022 at 2:00 pm in the Chapel of Memorial Park Funeral Home with interment to follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Friday, October 14, 2022 from 4 – 9 pm at the funeral home.
Mrs. Vickers was born August 4, 1925 in Jefferson, Georgia to the late James Franklin Cheek and Myrtle Skelton Cheek, the eldest of 6 children. She graduated as Salutatorian of Braselton High School in 1943. Latrelle worked for Mr. Jesse Jewell, also worked for the Hall County School System at Oakwood Elementary as a Secretary and as a substitute teacher for over 40 years. She was also the co-owner of Vickers Trucking Company. Latrelle had many hobbies, which included sewing, she was a seamstress since 1950, crocheting, gardening, cook, canning and freezing. She was a member of Mountain View Baptist Church since 1945. Latrelle was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Harold Dean Vickers, her son, Harold Lanier Vickers, all her siblings, John William Cheek, Frank Junior Cheek, Virginia Davis, Ola Mae Campbell and Russell Cheek.
Mrs. Vickers is survived by her children, Cheryle (Tony) Williams and Vyron Vickers, her grandchildren, Kendra (Tracy) Coker, Crystal Williams, Nathan Williams and Nicole Williams, her great-grandchildren, Madison Coker and Lanier Coker. Also surviving are a number of nieces, nephews and many friends.
