Charles Edward Sims was born on October 17, 1946, in Gainesville, Georgia to the late Curtis Tate Sr., Lucy Teasly Tate, and C.B. Sims.
He transitioned from this life on Wednesday, October 5, 2022, at Northeast Georgia Medical Center surrounded by his loving family. Charles attended the local school system within the Gainesville district. He completed his grade school at Fair Street. After completion, he entered various trades. Mr. Sims was employed with Fieldale and worked for the Housing Authority for many years until he reached retirement.
In addition to working many years at the Housing Authority, he enjoyed spending time with family, friends, socializing, playing horseshoes, playing baseball and watching western movies. One of his favorite sayings is, “I’m not worried about the chitter chatter, cause the chitter chatter don’t matter.” Mr. Sims was a character that made people laugh with his many cliché sayings.
Charles Edward Sims was preceded in death by his parents Curtis Tate Sr., Lucy Tate, and C.B. Sims, his wife Barbara Ann Sims; one brother James Morrow, and grandsons: Sean Smith and Martavious Pittman.
Loving memories of Charles are cherished by his daughters: Linda Sims-Roland, Lynn Sims, Kimberly Sims, Laqeisha Hayes; son: Tyree Sims; special friend Betty Jean Tanner; Siblings: Shirley Stephens, Toni Johnson, Brenda Daniel, Judy Mize, Beverly Tate, Curtis Jr (Lynn) Tate, Scherree Tate, Milton Smith; 14 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; aunts; uncles; 2 brother-in-laws, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and family.
