Dorothy Gayton, 84, of Dawsonville passed away Sunday, October 9, 2022 at her residence following a period of declining health.
Born July 24, 1938, Dorothy had been a resident of Dawson County for most of her life. A loving and devoted mother and grandmother, she was of Baptist faith and loved going to church. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, Lee and Edna Buice; husbands, C.M. Gayton and Hershel Keown; granddaughter, Crista Turner.
Surviving are her sons, Alton Gayton of Florida, Jr. (Lynn) Gayton of Washington, Georgia; daughters, Deborah (Mark) Geddings of Ellijay, Rita (Jeff) Gilleland of Cumming, Sherry “Janie” (James) Dillingham of Dawsonville; 8 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren; other relatives.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, October 12, 2022 at 1 p.m. at Bearden Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Gary Keown will officiate. Interment will follow in Dawsonville Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends Wednesday at the funeral home from 11 a.m. until the service hour.
