Mr. Douglas “Doug” Down, age 80 of Pendleton, South Carolina and formerly of Toccoa, Georgia passed away Sunday, October 9, 2022 at Upstate Hospice of Anderson, South Carolina.
The son of the late Charles Leroy Downs and Wrethea Faine Holbrook, he was born December 16, 1941 in Franklin, North Carolina. He was a 1961 graduate of Stephens County High School, was employed with Rico Chemical for a number of years and later employed with Georgia Baptist Assembly and served in the South Carolina National Guard from 1966 to 1972. He was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church in Toccoa. He took great pride in telling others about his family, especially his grandson, Adison and his wife Nicole and his great-grandson, Maddox. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Nancy Wheeler Downs; daughter, Kelli Downs Hastings of Anderson, South Carolina; grandson, Adison Hastings and wife Nicole and great-grandson, Maddox Hastings of Hartwell; a number of cousins.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, October 12, 2022, 2 o’clock p.m. in the Hillcrest Chapel of the Acree-Davis Funeral Home with the Reverend John Thomas officiating. The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers, Bryan Dobbs, Scott Chitwood, Mike Adams, Bobby Kuppers, Kenneth McCaskill and Mike Wilkie.

Interment will follow in the Stephens Memorial Gardens with the Acree-Davis Funeral Home and Crematory in charge of the arrangements for Mr. Douglas “Doug” Downs.
