Winnie Lou Stewart Tench, age 84 of Clarkesville, Georgia went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, October 06, 2022 following an extended illness.
Born in Clarkesville, Georgia on December 11, 1937, she was a daughter of the late Virgil & Effie Mae Wheeler Stewart. Winnie Lou worked for Lumite and then for Piedmont Automotive for many years. She also took care of many children in her home over the years and kept close contact with them after they were grown. In her spare time, Winnie Lou loved flowers, listening to good Southern Gospel Music, and watching Old Western movies. Most of all, she loved spending precious time with her family and was affectionately known to many as “Ma Lou.”
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Burgess “Bert” Tench; grandson, Stuart Tench; sisters, Deborah Stewart, Louise Patterson, & Geneva Ivester; brothers, LeeRoy Stewart, Doug Stewart, Billy Stewart, Bobby Stewart, Buddy Stewart, Johnny Stewart, Herbert Stewart, & Herman Stewart.
Survivors include her children, Michael & Debbie Tench of Gainesville, GA; Marty Tench of Cleveland, GA; Heather & Derek Smith of Gainesville, GA; grandchildren, Jessica & Aubrey Keller of Gainesville, GA; Jordan Tench of Bowersville, GA; Nick Smith, Katie Smith, Zach Smith, & Kyndal Smith all of Gainesville, GA; great-grandsons, Ames Keller, Briggs Keller, & Huxton Keller all of Gainesville, GA; sister, Betty Sue Terry of Cornelia, GA; brothers & sisters-in-law, Ray & Willene Stewart of Mount Airy, GA; Jimmy & Jeanell Stewart of Demorest, GA; many nieces, nephews, other relatives, & a host of friends.
Funeral services are scheduled for 3:00 p.m. Sunday, October 09, 2022 at Hillside Memorial Chapel with Rev. Milton Martin, Jr. & Rev. Tim Tanner officiating. Interment will follow in the Habersham Cemetery with Rev. Anthony Shore officiating at the graveside.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1:00 p.m. until the service hour on Sunday, October 09, 2022.
