On September 17, 2022, John Lamar Tefft, loving husband and father, passed away at the age of 81 in Gainesville, GA.
John was born September 30, 1940 in Columbus, GA, to William and Floree (Sands) Tefft. He earned his Bachelor of Business Administration degree from Georgia State College in 1968, and worked as an international sales executive for various companies, most notably Avon Products. He was particularly proud of earning his Master of Science degree from Brenau University in 2008, and his Master of Arts degree in International Affairs from the University of North Georgia in 2015.
He began 57 years of happy marriage to Linda Cheryl (Crowley) on May 8, 1965. Together they raised their daughters Alison (Scott) Blincoe and Amy (Keith) Spencer. He was a beloved PopPop to his grandchildren Penelope, Zachary, and Vivian. He is survived by his wife, Cheryl; their daughters Alison and Amy; Lynn (Michael) Roth, his daughter from a previous marriage, and her children Michael Jr., Victoria, Caleb, and Ashton; Judith Mak, who he loved like a daughter; his sons-in-law; his grandchildren; his sister, Pat Lees; his nieces and nephews; and many loving in-laws. He is preceded in death by his parents; and brother-in-law, Harry Lees.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 8, 2022 at 2 PM at the First United Methodist Church of Gainesville, 2780 Thompson Bridge Road, Gainesville, Georgia 30506. The family will receive friends after the service in the reception hall.
