Johnny Ira Hayes

Obituary Date: Tuesday, September 27, 2022

Surrounded by loved ones, Johnny Ira William Hayes, age 49, passed away on Tuesday, September 27, 2022. He was born in Gainesville, GA on November 13, 1972, to the late Johnny Lee and Willie Sue Hunsinger-Hayes.

Johnny was of the Baptist faith. He worked most of his life in construction. Operating heavy equipment, plumbing, carpentry, and tile work were some skills he offered to his profession. Johnny was a very tenderhearted individual and would cry alongside the girls when watching sappy movies. He loved reading and could tell you many acts and details of American and world history from memory. He loved art and was offered an opportunity to work for Disney Studios at one point, which he regretfully turned down. If you knew Johnny, you loved him. He never met a stranger. His family was Johnny's greatest love, especially his children, grandchildren and Mother. He had such a helpful loving personality and will be greatly missed.

In addition to his father, Johnny is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Charles and Mary Ann Self-Hayes; maternal grandparents Willie and Ruth Roberts Hunsinger; and mother-in-law Debra Majors.

Johnny is survived by his wife, Julie; sons Conner and Duncan Hayes; daughter Raven Hayes; grandsons Nation and Jaxon Hayes; and granddaughter Atarah Hayes, all of Cumming, Ga. Also surviving are his Mother, Willie Sue Hunsinger (Arnold); sisters Valorie Ruth Hayes Watkins of Alto, GA, Becky Sanders (Michael) of Pensacola, FL, Heather Daugherty (Jason) of West Point, GA, Veronica Daugherty of Shilo, GA, and April Hayes of Gainesville, GA; brothers Mark Hayes (Mikal) of Silver Creek, GA, Michael Hayes of Gainesville, GA; special friend, who was like a brother, Dan Noel; nieces Christin and Erica Hayes, Seaura and Talia Watkins, Savanna Sanders, Harmony Pyles, and Madison Daugherty; nephews Quentin Little, Talon Watkins, Marcus Hayes, Tyler Sanders, Matthew Pyles, as well as Logan, Donovan, C.J., and Kilian Daugherty; great aunt Syvilla Roberts; aunts Voncille Davis, Regina Hunsinger, and Kathy Hunsinger; uncles Bobby Hayes (Joan) and Jimmy Hayes (Robin). Several cousins and friends also survive.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 30, 2022, at 1:00 PM in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. DJ Faircloth officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 11:00 AM until the service hour.
