Mr. John Butts Jr. was born May 5,1929 to the late John Sr. and Willie Butts of Gainesville, Ga. He gained his wings on September 19, 2022 following a brief illness. He is preceded in death by his wife Ann Butts, parents John and Willie Butts, sister Carrier Lou Hudson, and brothers Doyle and Henry Butts. John Butts was always eager to assist and give back to the Gainesville community that he loved. He started his entrepreneurial endeavors at an early age. Some of his business ventures include a record shop, Sparkles, Entertainment Center, a grocery store, among other things to give an outlet for his community. He was the first valedictorian of Fair Street School. He also attended Morehouse College alongside his friend the late Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. He leaves to cherish his memory sons Jonathan Butts, Patrick (Amanda) Butts, and Corey Butts. Sisters Betty Butts and Joyce (Willie) Mitchell. One brother Jesse Butts. Grandchildren Mia Turner Bledson, Jonathon and Bianca Butts. He also leaves behind six great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.
The visitation for Mr. Butts' will be held Monday, September 26th at Wimberly Funeral Home between the hours of 12-8pm. The family will receive friends between the hours of 6-8pm at Wimberly Funeral Home. The Celebration of Life will be held Tuesday, September 27th at the hour of 1pm at St John Baptist Church.
