Jeremy Jiovonni “Tsunami” Melendez, 35, died Monday, September 5, 2022, in Dacula, Georgia. Jio, as he was known to friends and family, was born in Manhattan, New York on August 14, 1987.
Family was everything to Jio. He moved to Atlanta, GA in 2010 to be closer to his dad, go to school, explore a new city, and eventually met his wife, Sabrina Attimy. He was a loving son to his dad, Juan. He was a proud mama’s boy to his dear mother, Jacqueline. He loved his little sister, “Jheesa” and was so proud of her for the person she is and continues to be. Jio loved his wife so very much, they drove each other equally crazy in love. Jio was a great dad to his son, Jaxson Elijah Melendez. There is no mountain Jio wouldn’t move for him
Jio was an artist at heart. He attended Howard W. Blake School of the Arts, then graduated with a Bachelor in Photography from the University of Florida, and finally received his Masters of Arts in Advertising from Savannah College of Art and Design. He made a career for himself as a graphic designer, and you may have seen his designs on billboards or on public transportation. He was very talented at what he did.
Jio was a comedian. Jio could make anyone laugh and was a friend to all. He liked to be comfortable and help people feel comfortable. He loved the camaraderie, challenge, and laughter of poker nights with his poker buddies. He always came back with stories to share. His poker buddies soon became family. He loved them (even the donkeys).
Jio loved music and is probably chilling with Chester Bennington, Michael Jackson, and Freddie Mercury. As a child, you could always find him dancing along to “Thriller”. He introduced his wife to Queen, and it is still her favorite band. One of his favorite memories was catching the drumstick from the Linkin Park concert for his wife.
Jio loved creating and inspiring and just being happy. Jio lived in the now. He lives in all of us.
