Kreig M. Loftin passed away on September 5, 2022, at the age of 75. He is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Lori Ann, and by his son, John Garrett Loftin (Krysta), Sugar Hill, GA.
He is predeceased by his mother, Betty, and father, Bill, Bakersfield, CA.
Kreig is survived by his sister, Kriss Loftin Nugent (Larry), Rye, CO; his brother, John “Buddy” Garrett (Connie), CA; his brothers in-law John Wilson (Tracy), Bakersfield, CA; and David Wilson, Orlando, FL and many loving aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Sgt. Kreig “Hip” Loftin served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1965 – 1969. In 1967-68, Kreig was a crew chief in Vietnam with the HMM-262 helicopter squadron. He flew over 300 combat missions during the 77-Day Siege of Khe Sanh. Medals awarded included 15 Air Medals; Navy Presidential Unit Citation; Navy Unit Commendation; National Defense Medal; Vietnam Service Medal; Good Conduct Medal. Kreig was guest of honor in 2019 at the Marine Corps Ball in Okinawa for his HMM-262 squadron, which is now flying the V22 Osprey.
Over the course of 40 years in business, Kreig held management positions in several Fortune 500 companies including Dole Foods, Tenneco Inc., Schlumberger Services. He retired after 28 years with the Wonderful Company (agri-business foods) headquartered in Los Angeles, CA. Kreig progressed from Plant Inventory Control Mgr. in California to Regional Sales and National Sales Director in the eastern U.S.
Kreig and Lori Ann enjoyed traveling, riding his Harley motorcycle, and gardening together. He enjoyed playing his guitar, reading and spending time outdoors. He was an avid researcher and published author. Kreig wrote “Every Mother’s Son – 77 Days at Khe Sanh” sharing his military service in Vietnam.
To my husband and soulmate, we have a giant hole in our hearts, but you will always be with us in wonderful memories and moments shared together. We know you are at peace now Kreig. You are with God. Until we meet again in heaven. Please know you are loved so very much.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, September 17, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Flanigan Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 11:30 a.m. until time for the service at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 17.
