Albert (Buddy) G. Myers Jr.

Mr. Albert (Buddy) G. Myers, Jr., age 85, of Gainesville, Georgia, passed away on September 9, 2022.  

Buddy was born on September 5, 1937 in Brinkley, Arkansas and was the son of Erwin and Albert Myers. He began his career as a teacher in Savannah Georgia. He continued his career in education by moving to the Georgia Department of Education where he worked until his retirement. Throughout his life, he enjoyed playing golf, traveling, and camping.  He attended First Methodist Church in Gainesville, where he was a member of the COMET Sunday School Class.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Erwin Herron Myers, his father Albert G. Myers, Sr., his sister, Ann Myers Foster, and his sister Valetta Myers Buck.     

Buddy is survived by his wife, Mary Reese Myers, his son, Nelton Edward (Ed) Myers of Gainesville, daughter-in-law Janell Del Myers of Gainesville, daughter, Mary Elizabeth (Beth) Kiel of Acworth, son-in-law Thomas Michael Kiel of Acworth, grandson, Reese Edward Myers of Gainesville, grandson Adam Christopher Kiel of Acworth, grandson Greyson Elliott Myers of Gainesville and grandson Brady Joseph Kiel of Acworth; and many treasured nieces, nephews, and extended relatives.    

Buddy would always brighten a room with his smile and laughter. His spirit will truly be missed by those who knew and loved him. A special thank you to his loving caregivers at The Phoenix at Lake Lanier Senior Living Community.      

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Saturday, September 17, 2022 at First United Methodist Church in Gainesville with a reception to follow. Rev. Jamey Prickett and Rev. Carolyn Clifton will officiate.

The family has requested those who desire to donate in lieu of flowers, donations be made in his memory to the COMET Sunday School Class at GFUMC, Humane Society of Northeast Georgia or any other charity of your choice.
