Evans Funeral Home of Jefferson announces the death of Mrs. Molly (Elizabeth Inez) Feather Cates, age 74 of Hoschton, Georgia who entered rest Friday, September 9, 2022. Mrs. Cates was born in Atlanta, Georgia a daughter of the late Charles Everett Feather and the late Edith Juanita Hames Feather. Mrs. Cates was a person of strong faith and prayed for everyone, she was considered by her family to be the world’s best mama, wife and cook. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Cates is preceded by sisters, Stella Scott, and Marlene Shiflett. Brothers, Henry, Malcolm and Michael Feather Sr.
Survivors include her husband, Jewell Henry Cates, Sr. of Hoschton. Children, Penny Johnson (Tony) of Royston, Jay Cates (Amy) of Jefferson, Jewellene Shumake of Snellville, Lee Cates (Tonya) of Jersey, Charlie Holcombe (Michael) of Hoschton. Brothers, Arthur “Boy” Feather of Jefferson, Billy Feather (Wanda) of Charlotte and Chris Feather (Nikki) of Loganville. Nineteen grandchildren, ten great grandchildren and lots of nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, September 13, 2022 from the Chapel of Evans Funeral Home with Reverend Kevin Page and Reverend Tony Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in Evans Memory Gardens. Gentlemen honored as pallbearers are Pete Shumake, Paul Tate, Josh Cates, Justin Cates, Robby Johnson, Isaiah Billue and Philip Maxwell. The family will receive friends 6:00 – 8:00 P.M. Monday, September 12, 2022, at Evans Funeral Home.
