Larry Barrett

Mr. Larry Barrett, 65, of Flowery Branch, Georgia, stepped into the presence of Jesus on Tuesday, August 30, 2022 after fighting a courageous battle with cancer. Larry was a beloved husband of 47 years to his high school sweetheart, Betty Burrell Barrett and a wonderful father to his two children, Nathan Barrett and his wife, Amber; and Brittany Barrett Means and her husband Jai.

Funeral Services will be at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, September 2, 2022 at Hopewell Baptist Church with interment following at Yonah Memorial Gardens in Demorest, Georgia.  Dr. Robby Foster, Rev. Gary Wilson, and Jai Means will officiate and Pastor David Wenger will officiate at the graveside.  Larry will lie in state from 1:00 p.m. until the funeral on Friday, September 2, 2022 at the church.  The family will receive friends from 2:00 – 4:00 and 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 1, 2022 at Memorial Park South Funeral Home.

Larry was known by many names throughout his life; first and foremost, he was a Christ Follower, a devoted husband, a wonderful father, son, brother, uncle, coach, and many more, but his greatest title of all was “POPPY”. Larry loved and adored his six grandchildren more than anything.

Larry was a devoted Christian. He attended Hopewell Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and the best greeter of all time! His joyful smile and selfless attitude made anyone feel welcome in his presence. He was truly on a mission to honor the Lord and to give God all the Glory in everything he did in life.  Everyone who knew him, loved him greatly.

His passions included spending time with his grandchildren, hunting, fishing, coaching, golfing, and spending time with his family. He loved his family well, and found immense joy in blessing them always. He will be remembered for his compassionate servant’s heart, generosity, his love for people, but most importantly, his love for the Lord.

He was preceded in death by his son, Nicholas Jonathan Barrett; his parents, Cecil and Nora Barrett; his father and mother-in-law, Henry B. and Annie Mae Burrell; and his brother, Phillip Barrett. Larry is survived by his wife Betty Burrell Barrett of Flowery Branch, Ga; his son and daughter-in-law, Nathan and Amber Barrett of Braselton, Ga.; his daughter and son-in-law, Brittany (Barrett) and Jai Means of Flowery Branch, Ga., along with his six precious grandchildren; Mattie Barrett, Jaxon Barrett, Miken Means, Maeleigh Kate Means, Asher Barrett, Jaiden Means, and grandbaby Barrett on the way; his sister and brother-in-law, Lucille and Leon Brown; his brother and sister-in-law, Ricky and Judy Barrett; his sister-in-law, Labrada Barrett; and many nephews, nieces, cousins, family, and friends who loved him dearly.
