Mrs. Jeanette “J-Net” Burrell Baird Viera, age 89, of Flowery Branch passed away peacefully Saturday, August 27, 2022 at her residence.
Funeral Services for Mrs. Viera will be 11:00 a.m., Thursday, September 1, 2022 in the Chapel of Memorial Park South Funeral Home with interment at 2:00 p.m., at Toccoa City Cemetery. Pastor Tim Hunter will officiate. The family will receive friends 10:00a.m. – 11:00 a.m., Thursday, September 1, 2022 at Memorial Park South Funeral Home.
Mrs. Viera was born September 7, 1932 in Toccoa, Georgia. The daughter of the late Callie Heaton Burrell and John Arvin Burrell, she was also preceded in death by her beloved son Richard A. Baird, and all of her siblings including Blanche Burrell Jameson, Floy Burrell Garrett, Edith Burrell Hewitt, Jackie Burrell Head, Jeanelle Burrell Jeffreys (her twin), and Troy Melvin Burrell.
Mrs. Viera is survived by her husband, Donald J. Viera; nieces, Betty Jameson Maxwell, Linda Jameson Sheriff, Shirley Hewitt Bethune, Peggy Hewitt Allen, Toni Hewitt White, Mona Burrell Chappelear, and Laylah Winsor Viana; nephews, Larry Knutson, John Hewitt, Ronald Burrell, and Mark Winsor.
Mrs. Viera has been blessed by her daughter-in-law, Jiraporn (Jickey) Baird; proxy son John J. Gomez; many great nieces and nephews including Amber Kelley and Jennifer Head, step- children Maria Pascale, Donna Jo Blinke, Jeanie Faulk , Chris Viera (deceased) and his wife Lupe Viera and many members of her family who were actively involved in her life.
Mrs. Viera graduated from Toccoa High School and attended Oglethorpe University. She was very active in her community volunteering at Northeast Georgia Medical Center, a Board Member for DFACS for 15 years and serving her church, Mount Salem Baptist Church in various positions. She was a faithful member of the Hall County Republican Party, working with those who shared her ideals and values. A highlight of her involvement in the Hall County Republican Party was being elected to attend the Republican National Convention as a delegate in 2000.
She was an active member of Pilot Club of Gainesville for many years and had a great love for all pilot activities.
She possessed a deep love for many friends and people in general and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
